EroticEffect Will Be Shutting Down

It is with a heavy heart that we're announcing that EroticEffect will be closing at the end of 2025.

There's more detail below, but the short version is that our main customer base is in the US and Trump's trade policy has destroyed this market for shops outside the US, as well as massive impacts on the international economy. We are still planning on releasing some new stock (as well as 3 new models!) before we close in December, so you still have the opportunity to find some toys you love!

The long version:

This has not been an easy decision to make, but the time has come to start closing this chapter. I’m going to try my best to do this in an orderly fashion and provide a bit of a roadmap so that anyone who is interested in buying from us can plan for it. Before we get to the why and how I do have some exciting news: 3 new models will be joining the lineup for this last hurrah!


Now for the why: The decision to close has largely been driven by the Trump administration destroying consumer confidence when buying from international shops (which has also had massive impacts on the global economy), and my chronic health getting significantly worse. Marketing and selling adult products is already hard without needing to check US political news every morning, which I have needed to do as the US market made up ~70% of my sales. I’m burnt out, in severe pain, and I’m done trying to solve problems created by a man who can’t string a coherent sentence together.


This burnout is on top of the financial pinch. Sales have dropped 70% since February and are highly unpredictable, meaning we now barely cover fixed non-labour costs, can’t project cashflow, spend on marketing, or reinvest in the business. I don't believe this situation is likely to change significantly within the next 1-2 years, even if the US administration changes.


So what’s the plan for the next 4 months before we shut the (virtual) doors for good?

  • August: 2 new models in multiple sizes, plus a small restock. 
  • September: Another new model, plus an inventory restock mid-month (health permitting). We’re also hoping to open preorders for our “Ghost in a Dong” Halloween-themed pours. People loved them last year and I’d like to make them again. Keep in mind these are not available on all of our models, are a lot of work, and will be priced accordingly.
  • October: Halloween inventory restock, including some “Ghost in a Dong” Halloween-themed pours.
  • November: A small early Black Friday restock, followed by Black Friday sales. These will be the last new toys we add to the website.
  • December: Sell any remaining inventory, hopefully before Christmas, and then start rehoming some of our models. We’ve already received expressions of interest, but if you are interested in buying a model/masters/molds please sent us an email and we’ll get in touch when the time comes.


A few other notes:

  • Custom orders: These take a lot of time and energy and I find them stressful. Unless a request is something I particularly want to make I won’t be taking it on, and if I do expect the quote to be at least 4x the base price for the model.
  • Artist’s Choice: I will probably open a few batches of these, with each batch limited to a specific firmness/colour theme. This will allow me to balance offering well-priced toys whilst being able to efficiently batch pour them.
  • Made-to-Order colourways: These will no longer be available and have been removed from the website.
