USA Shipping & Tariff Update
What’s changed
- In August the Trump administration removed the previous $800USD de minimis threshold at short notice, leaving postal carriers scrambling to create new processes and service tiers to enable the collection of tariffs on all packages.
- Effective 22 August 2025, NZ Post and other postal networks have temporarily stopped accepting parcels bound for the United States. The current information we have suggests shipping will resume “in several weeks”.
How we’re handling orders from US customers:
- We are still accepting US orders.
- We will hold the items in your order until NZ Post resumes US service. We will cover the any additional reasonable postage costs.
- Our backup plan: If postal service has not resumed by mid-to-late October 2025 we will ship accumulated orders via FedEx and cover the extra expense and labour.
- By placing an order now, you agree to wait for dispatch and understand that cancellations and refunds are not available due to these delays. We will only offer refunds if there is no reasonably priced shipment method available or announced by the end of October.
- If you place multiple orders before we can resume US shipping we will combine them into one box (if possible) and refund any shipping in excess of what we are charged by our postal provider.
Duties, taxes, and fees
- Packages will be sent tariffs and duties unpaid. This means that the customer is responsible for paying any duties, taxes, and brokerage/clearance fees. This has always been our policy and we do not plan on changing it.
- With the de minimis threshold removed, US Customs will assess duties/taxes on all shipments.
- The postal carrier or Customs may contact you to collect duties, taxes, and any brokerage/clearance fees before or upon delivery. Our products are made in New Zealand and declared under the Customs HS tariff code 4016.99.05.00.
- At the time of writing the current US tariff rate for our goods is ~18%, plus any customs and collection fees. These charges are set by US authorities/carriers (meaning we have no control over them), are subject to change without notice, and are not refundable by us.
- If we become unable to ship our packages with tariffs and duties unpaid we will contact you for payment to cover the tariff costs.
- If the package is returned to us or we are unable to ship your order because you did not pay the tariffs and clearance fees we will not refund your order.
